Maybe you have been out on a guided trip or been out with friends and want to up skill or gain more confidence. Our Introduction to canyoning course is designed for you. Over two days of canyoning you will learn lots of new skills and descend 2/3 canyons on a beginner canyoning course.
It’s an exciting time for canyoning in the UK! It's growing and fast! More and more people are experiencing Canyoning for the first time or can’t get enough of it. In Europe, the recreational canyoning scene is massive, people go canyoning in their spare time. Just like we do here in the UK, you when people go mountain biking, rock climbing or kayaking. So why not join the newest mountain sport movement. Lets go canyoning.
What's included:As part of the Introduction to Canyoning we recommend taking our very own online training course from V7 Academy before you come. With some great canyoning friends from around the world, we have developed some online canyoning training. The Level 1 course is the perfect addition to give you some understanding before you even meet us. Check out this video all about rappelling.
WetsuitYour two-piece Vade Retro wetsuit is 5mm thick with sizes to fit everyone from kids to large adults. These wetsuits are canyoning specific, with Japanese Yammimoto neoprene, protection on the bum, elbows and knees. The canyoning wetsuits come with a hood and a zip down the front of the jacket. They are great for regulating heat, keeping warm in our ‘fresh’ Scottish canyons, easy to put on and take off and they look good too.
ShoesYes canyoning shoes! We provide canyoning specific shoes to everyone. We believe this is very important to have a safe and comfortable trip. The rocks in Scottish canyons can be slippery so good grip and ankle support is a must. We are currently the only canyoning provider in the UK providing shoes.
HarnessesYou will be issued with your own canyoning specific harness. Our harnesses come in a size to fit everyone. On your harness you will have two safety lines (lanyards) with carabiners on the end. You will also receive a canyoning descender, for abseiling down ropes. We will provide you with a Petzl Pirana, don’t worry we will teach you how to use it.
HelmetA good helmet is very important whilst canyoning, that’s why we use the best ones for our customers. Lightweight and stylish we will provide you with top of the range helmet, perfectly suited to canyoning.
SocksWell you don’t want cold feet right? We make sure every part of you is kept warm, so 3mm neoprene socks are always issued on every canyoning trip.
GlovesFor those of you who get cold hands, we have neoprene gloves available, in a variety of sizes. It’s important to keep hydrated and energised as you certainly burn a few calories. We will provide you with water and snacks throughout the day. Not everyone likes to take their car with them everywhere, if you wanna those people, not to worry. We can offer a Pick Up And Drop Off (On Request).
What to bring:On your two day adventure, all you will need to bring with you is a towel (we’ll bring changing robes), swimwear, medication (if required) and of course some big smiles. If you want to bring a waterproof camera or GoPro that’s totally fine, but do so at your own risk, there is only so much diving for kit we can do.
