Your canyoning equipment will keep you warm, safe, comfortable and looking good for your photos. Our equipment is top quality and always in excellent condition, only CE PPE is used at The Canyoning Company. So be relaxed and enjoy your canyoning experience with us.

Wetsuit

Your two-piece Vade Retro wetsuit is 5mm thick with sizes to fit everyone from kids to large adults. These wetsuits are canyoning specific, with Japanese Yammimoto neoprene, protection on the bum, elbows and knees. The canyoning wetsuits come with a hood and a zip down the front of the jacket. They are great for regulating heat, keeping warm in our ‘fresh’ Scottish canyons, easy to put on and take off and they look good too.

Shoes

Yes canyoning shoes! We provide canyoning specific shoes to everyone. We believe this is very important to have a safe and comfortable trip. The rocks in Scottish canyons can be slippery so good grip and ankle support is a must. We are currently the only canyoning provider in the UK providing shoes.

Harnesses

You will be issued with your own canyoning specific harness. Our harnesses come in a size to fit everyone. On your harness you will have two safety lines (lanyards) with carabiners on the end. You will also receive a canyoning descender, for abseiling down ropes. We will provide you with a Petzl Pirana, don’t worry we will teach you how to use it.

Helmet

A good helmet is very important whilst canyoning, that’s why we use the best ones for our customers. Lightweight and stylish we will provide you with top of the range helmet, perfectly suited to canyoning.

Socks

Well you don’t want cold feet right? We make sure every part of you is kept warm, so 3mm neoprene socks are always issued on every canyoning trip.

Gloves

For those of you who get cold hands, we have neoprene gloves available, in a variety of sizes. It’s important to keep hydrated and energised as you certainly burn a few calories. We will provide you with water and snacks throughout the day. Not everyone likes to take their car with them everywhere, if you wanna those people, not to worry. We can offer a Pick Up And Drop Off (On Request).

What to bring:

On your two day adventure, all you will need to bring with you is a towel (we’ll bring changing robes), swimwear, medication (if required) and of course some big smiles. If you want to bring a waterproof camera or GoPro that’s totally fine, but do so at your own risk, there is only so much diving for kit we can do.

LOCATION

Over the two days we will be based in Perthshire with some of the best canyons in Scotland. We will explore some incredible canyons with beautiful waterfalls only accessible by rope. Along the way we will capture every moment with photos and video or we could get our friends from the Adventures photographers to come along and join us on our adventure.
On the first day, you won’t just learn how to use your equipment but why we use it and how to use it best for all scenarios. In the canyon you can refine your abseiling, jumping and sliding techniques whilst understanding the risks and how to best manage them.

Have you ever wondered how your instructor has set up the ropes in the canyon?  Well over this workshop, under the instruction of Ben or George, you will learn some knotcraft and learn how to assist with the rigging. Help with pulling through the ropes, coiling and packing them. Becoming a competent team member and help create great efficiency in your team's ability.

It’s super important that we look after each other in the canyon. We’ll teach you some belay techniques so you too can back up others in the canyon, even Ben and George need a hand now and again.

THINKING ABOUT ACCOMMODATION?

We work with lots of awesome providers around Perthshire and know some great places to stay. If you want to stay in Dunkeld, we’ll most likely join you for a beer in the evening. Contact us to find out more about accommodation.
After the two days of immersing yourself in these amazing places you will have caught the canyoning bug, learned the essential skills for canyoning and will have become a confident member of a canyoning team.
