MOUNTAIN BIKING IN DUNKELD

Head to the picturesque village of Dunkeld just over an hour drive from Edinburgh. this idyllic village has a hidden secret, it’s one of the best locations for mountain biking in Scotland. Hidden in the foothills around the village are great mountain bike trails great for any level of experience.

At Progression Bikes Adam will happily tell you the best routes, here you can hire a bike and get out and explore. The area is great for families too, and if you are looking for something a little less strenuous why not hire an E-bike and enjoy some of the mellow forest trails. 

CANYONING AT DOLLAR

Join The Canyoning Company for a thrilling day out exploring Dollar Canyon. This canyoning trip is located about 40 minutes from Edinburgh city centre.

The canyon itself is situated by the side of Castle Campbell in Dollar with beautiful views over the Firth of Forth. KAYAKING ON THE RIVER TAY

For a great Adventurous day out take a guided kayaking trip with Outdoor Explore. They have many locations throughout Perthshire but the most sought-after trip is on the River Tay.

Outdoor Explore have all the equipment to hire, with choosing a single or tandem kayak. Your instructors will teach you everything you need to know, then take to the water and journey down Scotlands longest river. If you lucky you may be able to see some beavers on your way. 

GO APE AT PEEBLES

If you are looking for a crowd-pleaser, just a short drive from Edinburgh is Go Ape. Located in the grounds of the magnificent Glentress Forest, the Treetop Challenge is made up of all the classic Go Ape features, like wobbly rope ladders, toe-curling Tarzan swings and loads more. The high ropes course will take around two to three hours to complete, that is after a full safety briefing.

What makes this course an adrenaline junkie’s dream are the zip wires, the longest of which is a whopping 325 metres long! 

ROCK CLIMBING AT RATHO

Edinburgh Indoor Climbing Arena is impressive and great for all ages and abilities. From bouldering to abseiling after climbing the tower or the aerial assault course there’s so much fun to be had here.

The toddler playroom 'Rock Tots' allows your toddler to discover a whole new world of fun where they can let their imagination run wild. If you want to progress further in climbing why not book an instructor and learn more about rock climbing.

CANYONING ADVENTURE EXPERIENCES

Canyoning is a perfect mix of different outdoor activities. But although canyoning uses a mixture of skills it has its own specific way to do things. It involves rock climbing skills, as there is often abseiling and rappelling. Swimming is an important part as most canyons have water in them.

Canyoneering is an adventure activity. It combines rock and water activities into a sport full of adrenaline and natural beauty. When you go canyoning you will be trekking through river gorges. You will also explore around rock pools and behind waterfalls. You will find yourself abseiling down waterfalls as well as tackling cliff jumps into stunning water rock pools.
