Introductory and advanced workshops for canyoning and white water canyoning will deliver the expertise you want to further your experience on your outdoor adventure. These unique workshops are designed to match the requirements of the professional outdoor adventure industry, with a student-based approach allowing for individual success to be achieved.

This two-day workshop is for anyone who would like to experience canyoning. Maybe you have been out on a guided trip, been out with friends or it’s your first time. Now you would like to learn the essential skills for canyoning. Become confident as a member of a lead group in moderate risk canyons.

The two-day workshop will encompass two days of learning and canyoning. You will descend 2-3 canyons over the two days. The course will be delivered by Ben Case (ICOPro Instructor Level 2, V7 Academy Instructor) and George Yates (ICOpro Senior Trainer, V7 Academy Instructor)

Day 1 – Explore Canyoning

In Canyon Day – Under the instruction and guidance of your instructor, learn how to be an active team member. Refine your abseiling, jumping and sliding techniques. Understand the risk factors in canyoning and how to manage them. Learn more about your specific equipment and how to use it effectively. Assist with rigging and knot craft, and understand the principles of belaying and white water canyoning.

Day 2 – Refine your skills

In canyon day – Descend two canyons, refine your skills on the rope. Learn how to move through a rebelay, lock off your descender and pass a deviation. Understand more complex communication signals and become confident moving on exposed traverse lines Set up for abseiling and zip lines by yourself.

This 4-day workshop is designed to give you the skills to go canyoning independently. Learn how to create safe rope rigging solutions. Plan and prepare for your own trip, make safe and informed decisions, learn how to make jumps and slides safe, and manage a team through these features. Become proficient on ropes, learn how to ascend and covert on single ropes Learn basic rescue skills and incident management in a canyon environment and much more.

As part of the workshop, you get lifetime access to the V7 Academy Level 2 online course ($250rrp)

The four-day workshop will encompass four days of learning and canyoning. You will descend 4+ canyons over the two days. The course will be delivered by Ben Case (ICOPro Instructor Level 2, V7 Academy Instructor) and George Yates (ICOpro Senior Trainer, V7 Academy Instructor)

Day 1 – Rope progression and white water

Cliff and River – On the cliff learn how to move confidently on ropes. Learn how to ascend and convert from ascent to descent on a single rope. Lear safe and effective belaying techniques. Learn how to set up traverse lines and manage rope bags and rope in the canyon environment.

The second part of the day will be based at the river where you will learn how to swim in moving water, manage a team and equipment and learn basic canyoning white water safety.

Day 2/3 – Rigging

Canyon – Learn how to build releasable and retrievable abseils in the canyon. Learn the process of creating guided abseils. Set up and take down your own rigging. Understand obstacle analysis, rope abrasion techniques and basic rescue skills on the rope. We will look at bolts, temporary and human anchors. Learn how to manage pitch heads and a group in canyon environments.

Day 4 – Clinic Canyon

On the final day you will descend a canyon under the guidance of your instructors> put all the skills you have learned in to practice.

This two day workshop is for recreational and professional canyoneers who want to further their knowledge and confidence in white water canyons. The workshop covers personal progression techniques and rescue specifically in swift water canyons. The white-water workshop encompasses the newest techniques and theory for swift water progression and rescue in the canyon environment.

The workshop will be delivered by George Yates (ICOpro Senior Trainer) and Ben Case (ICOpro Instructor).

Day 1 – Personal progression and hydrology

In canyon day – This day will be focused on personal progression in swift water. Understanding canyon hydrology, swimming techniques, managing equipment and a group. Setting tension diagonals, guided rappels in swift water, trap pool escape, undercut and siphon awareness, and optimising equipment.

Day 2 – Personal progression and Rescue

In canyon day – This day is focused on more advanced progression techniques for swift water environments. Advanced guided rappel set up, techniques and understanding, river crossing, floating anchors, contact rescues (livebait), rope throwing, foot entrapment, and Y-lowers.

N.B This is an intermediate level workshop where canyoning experience is required. You must be comfortable around moving water and be able to abseil confidently. You must be minimum 18 years old.

 

Price £200

This two-day workshop is designed for experienced recreational and professional canyoneers. This course is a great add on to the white-water canyoning workshop. The course will be focused on vertical rescue, scenarios on rope in waterfalls, vertical foot entrapment, stabilisation and direct rescue techniques. The workshop is designed for canyon leaders who may be required to perform vertical rescue in swift water.

The workshop will be delivered by George Yates (ICOpro Senior Trainer) and Ben Case (ICOpro Instructor).

Day 1 - Vertical Rescue

On to the ropes with converting fixed to releasable systems, double releasable systems, vertical direct rescues, stabilisation techniques, self-rescue, rope cutting, ascending in the flow.

Day 2 - Canyon crossings (Tyroleans), Vertical foot entrapment drills, Scenarios.

N.B White water advanced canyoning workshop is an intermediate to advanced level workshop. You must be able to ascend rope and be very comfortable in swift water. You must be minimum 18 years old.
