Bolting
This focused two‑day workshop equips experienced canyoneers with the knowledge and practical skills to plan, place and manage permanent anchors in canyon environments. Delivered by a UKCA‑endorsed trainer, the course covers bolting history, ethics, environmental considerations, rigging hierarchies and safety margins so participants understand the responsibilities and decisionmaking behind equipping routes. Emphasis is on robust, context‑sensitive solutions and team collaboration during exploratory and re‑equip descents.
Day 1 mixes classroom theory with hands‑on practice in placing mechanical expansion bolts, glue‑in (resin) bolts, removable anchors and spit‑bolts, plus equipment selection, placement technique and safety checks. Students learn static system safety factors, IRT and alpine rigging techniques and expedition teamwork for bolting projects. Day 2 is a canyon descent clinic: team exploration, emergency bolting/escape and live practice re‑equipping or equipping a new line under trainer supervision.
Prerequisites: 21+, high fitness and swimming, completion of Canyon Leader and Advanced Rigging (or equivalents), and substantial canyoning experience recommended. No membership required. Participants leave being able to place glue‑in and mechanical bolts safely, ethically and accurately in complex canyon terrain.

Advanced Swift Water
This intensive two‑day Advanced Swift‑Water Workshop develops high‑level personal, team progression and rescue skills for highly aquatic canyoning environments. Delivered by a UKCA‑endorsed trainer, the course builds on core swift‑water competence to teach reading complex hydraulics (trap pools, undercuts, siphons), abseiling in flow, floating anchors and advanced tethered rope systems. A supervised night exercise exposes students to low‑light navigation and decision‑making in moving water.
Practical progression work covers advanced guided abseils, setting tethered ropes and managing equipment and bags in severe flow, plus techniques for preventing and resolving foot entrapments. Day two concentrates on advanced rescue: personal rope cutting in current, V‑lowers, ascending a guideline with a casualty and complex team hauls. Emphasis is on clean, efficient systems and leadership under pressure so participants can manage technically demanding swift‑water sections.
Prerequisites: 21+, very high fitness and swimming, completion of a Canyon Leader course and a Swift‑Water workshop (or equivalents), and substantial canyoning experience recommended. No membership required. The programme culminates in realistic, scenario‑based incident management exercises to consolidate command, communication and casualty care in challenging swift‑water canyons.

Swift Water
This intensive two‑day Swift‑Water Workshop develops confident personal and team movement and rescue skills for canyoning in moving‑water environments. Delivered by a UKCA‑endorsed trainer, the programme blends classroom theory with practical progression drills so participants learn to read hydrology, recognise flood and flash‑flood hazards, and select safe lines through current. Emphasis is on PPE, rescue principles and decisionmaking in water flow.
Practical skills include defensive and aggressive swimming, ferrying, tension diagonals, advanced entry techniques, jumping and sliding safety, plus bag and equipment management in swift water. Day‑one focuses on theory and core progression techniques; day‑two advances to duck‑diving/apnoea, complex crossings and working with teammates to move groups across flow. Realistic, supervised practice ensures skills translate directly to canyon environments. Rescue training covers shout‑reach‑throw‑go principles, tethered and contact swims, swift‑water lock‑offs and team extraction methods, with scenario work for flash‑flood and casualty management.
Prerequisites: 18+, good fitness and swimming, and completion of a Canyon Leader course (or equivalent); prior canyoning experience is recommended. No membership required.

Rescue
This three‑day workshop delivers focused, practical rope‑rescue skills for recreational and professional canyoneers operating in technical canyon environments. Led by a UKCA‑endorsed trainer, the programme combines rescue theory, rigging for contingencies and extensive hands‑on progression work so students understand rescue hierarchy, anchor considerations, mechanical advantage and the risks inherent to on‑rope rescue. Emphasis is on simple, robust solutions that function under field constraints and low‑visibility conditions.
Day‑to‑day training moves from advanced rope progression (horizontal void traverses, passing knots on ascent/descent, improvised ascenders/descenders, double‑rope techniques and guided abseils) into indirect (multi‑pulley haul, counterbalance, rope‑cutting via PCP) and direct rescue methods (assisted abseils, counterbalance from above/below, 2:1 strop rescues, direct rope cutting). Practical converting exercises teach changing blocked/static systems into releasable or haul systems, plus traverse‑line and guided‑rappel rescue variations. Scenario work includes casualty packaging, canyon escape and transport techniques.
Prerequisites: 18+, good fitness and swimming, completion of a Canyon Leader course (or equivalent); consolidated canyoning experience recommended. No membership required. The workshop culminates in realistic, timed incident scenarios to consolidate leadership, teamwork and decision‑making under pressure.

Rigging and Anchors
This intensive two-day workshop develops advanced rigging and anchor skills for recreational and professional canyoneers. Led by a UKCA-endorsed trainer, the course combines concise theory, hands-on station work and a guided clinic descent so participants learn techniques they can apply immediately in the canyon environment.
Day 1 covers rigging theory and systems: fall‑factor and impact forces; single, twin and double‑rope approaches; compound and isolated rigging; rope optimisation, packing and abrasion management. Participants practise fixed and retrievable traverse-line setups (with and without intermediate points) and learn a range of static and releasable systems — twin‑rope MMO, releasable figure‑8 block, Joker and double‑rope releasables, stone‑knot and fig‑8 block static systems, multi‑pitch rigging and guided‑rappel methods. Swift‑water release methods, human anchors and techniques for setting rope length when the anchor manager cannot see the bottom are demonstrated. Day 2 focuses on anchor identification, construction and management followed by a clinic session: supervised practice consolidating rigging choices on a canyon descent, training wall or cliff.
Prerequisites: 18+, good fitness and swimming, completion of a Canyon Leader course (or equivalent). No membership required.
