Safety
At The Canyoning Company attention to the safety of our participants is our number one priority. We operate in a moderate risk environment, where you may find slippery rock, cold water and high cliffs etc. Because of this we have in-depth risk assessments in place that are continuously reviewed, monitored and updated. All risk assessments are available on request. All staff are aware that these risks can change. So The Canyoning Company staff understand, and are able to make ongoing dynamic risk assessments throughout your experience.
Guides/Instructors
All Instructors and Guides at The Canyoning Company are selected for their enthusiasm, approachable nature and friendliness, but more importantly they are highly skilled, qualified and experienced. As a minimum The Canyoning Company staff hold a two day first aid qualification, Swift water Rescue, and professional Canyon Guide Qualification.
At present in the UK there are no requirements for canyoning guides to be qualified under specific canyoning qualifications, when taking customers canyoning. You can be assured all our guides trained at the highest level of canyoning and are Professional. Our instructors are qualified under the UKCG (UK Canyon Guides) or trained at V7 Academy as a minimum. Some of our guides are also qualified under ICOpro (international canyoning organisation for professionals). We are the first canyoning centres in the UK to be affiliated with the ICOpro. This means all systems are monitored and updated regularly, and we work to the highest standard.
The Canyoning Company team are all passionate canyoners, constantly gaining more experience and updating their skill and knowledge, to make sure they are delivering the highest standards on your trips.
Equipment
The environments we go to can be cold and abrasive. We offer the toughest and most robust equipment. Our wetsuits are two layer 5mm Japanese Yamamoto neoprene, so as a minimum you will be covered in 10mm of wetsuit, we use Vade Retro to supply our current wetsuits. Our harnesses, helmets, buoyancy aids and ropes are all top quality. We have system checks in place to monitor, maintain and continually assess all our PPE equipment. At The Canyoning Company we believe that footwear is one of the most important pieces of equipment. We provide specialised canyoning boots for all our customers, so you feel confident, safe and secure in the Canyon environment.
