This is a tour we have wanted to run for years, so we have taken our time to make sure it is now perfect. Ticino is a county in Switzerland, based in the heart of the alps, the area is mostly Italian speaking, as Ticino is on the border to Italy. We will spend 4 days canyoning and soaking up the Swiss mountain culture, descending some of the most iconic canyons in the region, finishing on a helicopter drop off to descend one of the larger canyons in the area. This is just one of the highlights to the trip.

The canyons are clustered around two valleys, Valle Leventia and Valle Maggia. These valleys host some of the finest, most exquisite and adventurous canyons in the Alps. The Ticino canyons are characterised by their marble like rock, sculped and formed over a millenia. Due to the smooth rock, Ticino canyons are defined by amazing long water slides, and deep pools, offering big jumps. Many of the larger waterfall abseils are full void, which means ‘free hanging’ giving you that amazing feeling of elevation and exposure. Weather you are new to canyoning or an experienced canyoneer, this trip will give you everything you ever dreamed of. Some of the canyons we will explore are absolute classics such as Pontirone and Iragna canyons to Lodrino canyon, an encased 5 star water world classic.

The Instructors

On your trip to Ticino you will be accompanied by Ben Case an ICOpro Instructor and experienced international canyoneer and guide. Along with George Yates an ICOpro Senior trainer and expert guide. Both are the owners and founders of The Canyoning Company and have unrivalled experience in the UK for leading international tours and expeditions. We will also be accompanied by a local guide, and swiss resident Panos Papakostas who is a highly experienced canyoning guide and ICOpro trainer based in Switzerland. You can be assured you will be in the best hands.

Photos and Video

We know that you will want the best picture and videos of your trip. We have teamed up with the guys at The Adventure Photographers, they specialise in adventure photography and are experts in canyoning photography and video. They will join us for the whole trip, capturing the best, most epic shots throughout each day, so you can remember this experience for a life time.

Fitness & Skill level

To get the most out of this awesome trip we advise you to have been out canyoning with us before and completed your CAI. We will also offer you a complimentary canyoning day trip here in Scotland, where we will run through some extra skills required for the tour.

For the Ticino canyoning trip we advise you have a good level of fitness. Some of the canyons involve a 1-hour steep hike to access the top. That said you don’t have to be an athlete!! On all the hikes we take in the scenery, take lots of breaks. If you have any concerns or questions about fitness or skill level, please contact us.
