The Tay Bunkhouse was once the Old Post Office in Logierait. Logierait is a small village just 1 minute off the A9 in central Highland Perthshire. Nearby are local attractions, walks, outdoor adventure centers and distilleries.

Our Story

Most of our summer weekends were spent with different groups, offering bespoke packages focused around canyoning. Packages included accommodation, activities and meals. Quite quickly, it became apparent that we needed our own accommodation.

In February 2018, we purchased the cottage and started renovations straight away. We had 6 weeks to complete the project before our first group arrived. With this deadline, we were working day and night to demolish, build, plumb, wire, decorate and furnish.

We have to say a massive thanks to family and friends that helped out, because we couldn’t have done it with out you. A special thanks you to Ben’s brother Zak (Crazy Hare Design) and George’s parents Mike and Gay.

Zak’s carpentry skills we invaluable in building our amazing bespoke bunk-beds, dining table, joinery and everything else.  Mike got stuck in to the mammoth job of the shower room, heating and lighting. Working his magic with the plumbing and electrics, he quickly gained the nick name the wizard. Gay gave up so much of her time running around after us boys. Whether it be painting, cleaning, shopping for furnishings or keeping us fed and watered. She was a star.

 

By the skin of our teeth, we opened the Tay Bunkhouse in April. Our first stag group arrived to a warm welcome, catered BBQ and a weekend of adventurous activities, distillery tours and whisky tasting.
Since then we have had mix of stags, hens, families and groups of friends staying at the bunkhouse. Some on package deals and others just booking accommodation. We are proud to say we have only been given great feedback. We are continuously updating and improving the place to give the best experience we can.

Facilities

The bunkhouse sleeps up to 12 people in 3 spacious bunk bed rooms. There’s great self catering facilities in the bunkhouse with everything you will need to and restaurants near by. We have a large gas BBQ and fire pit which is complimentary for you to use, as well as a great outdoor space with outdoor tables chairs and dining facilities. There is ample private parking onsite and extra space in the garden for camping or marquee options, and river access.

Activities

Summer

Highland Perthshire is the perfect destination for outdoor activities. There are water activities including canyoning, rafting, tubing, kayaking, canoeing and cliff jumping. For more information contact us.

Winter

The bunkhouse is situated in the perfect location of winter sports, Glen Shee, Coe and Cairngorms are within 1h 30min and Nevis Range 2hrs away. Visit Scotland has more information on ski resorts. Half a hour away is the Ben Lawers a fantastic ski touring area. As well as skiing you can mountain bike, hill walk and winter climb close by.
